Officially, the Tagung used to be called (translated): "Conference of the Workgroup Experimental Archaeology in Germany". At the end of 2001, the Workgroup Experimental Archaeology counted about 360 members, of which over 20% was non-German (10 nationalities). This internationalisation is taking a large leap forward with the Workgroep E.A. being transformed into EXAR, recieving a more recognisable identity.
